Lorca doubles the discount on monthly bus passes up to 60 per cent
The city has agreed to match the government’s subsidy amount, raising the discount on bus passes from 30 to 60%
Lorca City Council has reduced by the price of its city bus passes by 60% for the first half of 2023.
In addition to a mandatory 30% reduction in the cost of public bus passes across Spain, Lorca has agreed to match this with its own funds to provide double the savings for regular bus users in the municipality from January 1 until June 30.
The mayor, Diego José Mateos, explained that, with this new anti-crisis measure, the price of the monthly season ticket for students will be eight euros and for the unemployed, large families in special categories and basic sports, four euros.
Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, explained that “the commitment of the City Council of Lorca to both economic sustainability and the protection and care of the environment is again evident… as we have implemented a 30% discount in addition to the state bonus of 30%.”
Meanwhile, the deputy mayor, Francisco Morales, highlighted the 29.75% increase in the number of passengers who took advantage of the previous state discount of 30%.
With this new subsidy on public transport, the price of a monthly season ticket for students will be 8 euros and for the unemployed, large families of special category will be 4 euros.
Lorca has a catalogue of season tickets, as established by the ordinance regulating the provision of non-tax public services for the urban public passenger transport service, which regulates the prices and discounts for ordinary tickets and season tickets, benefiting people with disabilities, retired people and students, among others.
