ARCHIVED - Lighthouses in the Port of Cartagena now more environmentally friendly

La Curra and Christmas Fort lighthouses in the Cartagena Port now have new energy-efficient lights.

The green lighthouse of the Faro de La Curra (Lighthouse of La Curra) and the red lighthouse of the Fuerte de Navidad (Christmas Fort), both situated in the Port of Cartagena, have now been brought into the 21st century with the installation of new LED technology.

Despite the Fuerte de Navidad being a well-preserved 18th-century military fortress, the lighting system in the lighthouse needed some updating so along with the Faro de La Curra, which situated at the end of the military dock, both were fitted with new energy-efficiency LED bulbs.

The aim of the new lighting is to modernise the maritime signals and make the Port of Cartagena more environmentally friendly.
