ARCHIVED - Licence granted for new Licor 43 gastro-market on the seafront in Cartagena
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
Experiencia 43 already offers fabulous guided tours and tastings of Spain’s favourite liqueur in English!
The Town Hall of Cartagena has issued the licence for work to begin on the new gastro-market on the seafront in the city centre, allowing Grupo Zamora, who produce and market the famed Licor 43 drink, Spain’s favourite liqueur, to prepare this exciting addition to the attractions of the Paseo Alfonso XII.
When the market opens it will be on three levels: a basement will contain a storage area and services, the main ground floor will include a kitchen, a dining area and market and display stalls as well as a food and drink shop, while on the first floor a banqueting hall will be created along with a separate kitchen.
It is anticipated that the ground floor will feature a central bar counter where food is to be served, while the 8 stalls alongside will provide complementary services and the shop is to be located at the south-eastern corner of the building. The main access points will be on the eastern and western sides but others are to be on the south and east sides, while a staircase will lead up to the top floor terrance.
The work is budgeted to cost in the region of 880,000 euros and to be completed within 18 months, and has already been approved by the Department of Cultural Heritage of the regional government of Murcia.
Licor 43 has been produced and marketed by the Zamora family in Cartagena since 1946 and the Experiencia 43 facility just outside the city provides a fascinating (and tasty!) tour of the production area and the history of how the brand has been marketed both in Spain and worldwide over the last 75 years. Click here for further details regarding Experiencia 43, a great half-day out with tours offered in various languages including English all year round!
