Last hurrah for the summer heat: Alicante weather forecast August 25-28
A cloudy start today will lead to sunnier days getting hotter as the week goes on and peaking on Thursday
One of those hazy days of summer on Monday
Just as it was looking as though we had seen the last of the high temperatures for this summer, it now looks as though Alicante province may get one more blast from the furnace before September arrives.
Monday August 25
Welcome easterly winds will ease the humidity this afternoon
The dense clouds that arrived on Sunday evening are still hanging around this morning, making for a grey and muggy start to the week.
They should gradually shift, giving way to hazy sunshine over most of the province, except to the south around Torrevieja, where the skies may remain overcast for most of the day.
Temperatures in the low 30s may feel a few degrees warmer, particularly in the south, but moderate easterly winds this afternoon should help to take the edge off the stuffiness.
Tuesday August 26
The real feel will be very oppressive by 5pm
Much clearer skies are forecast for Tuesday, with temperatures remaining similar in the low 30s but again feeling quite a bit warmer, particularly in the south and especially in San Miguel de Salinas, where the heat index, or "real feel", is expected to be as high as 39.
The winds are liable to be lighter, with breezes from the north early on and in the late afternoon and some moderate easterly gusts in the afternoon.
Wednesday August 26
Wednesday is shaping up to be a great beach day
Similarly clear skies on the coast and slightly higher temperatures are predicted for Wednesday, in the mid-30s in many areas, particularly inland and up to 37ºC in Orihuela city.
There is expected to be very little wind, just light breezes from the north in the north of the province and from the west in the south.
Thursday August 27
It's looking like it will be hot, hot, hot on Thursday!
At the moment everything indicates that Thursday is going to be even hotter, especially in the southern half of the province, where even the coast may hit 35ºC.
Alicante city is forecast to reach 37ºC and Elche and Orihuela 38ºC, with only light breezes from the north offering little respite from the scorching heat.
A few cloudy intervals in the morning should clear by lunchtime and at least the humidity is expected to be low.
These extreme temperatures are expected to relent and return to the low to mid-30s on Friday.
