June 2-4 Alicante Street Food Market with live music
The three-day free event will take place in Alicante city's Plaza Seneca
Alicante city hosts its 8th Street Food Market this weekend with live music and free activities from June 2 to 4.
The three-day 'La Original' event will be held in Plaza Seneca where 12 vintage food trucks will pitch up serving a variety of dishes from around the world including Tex-Mex, hot dogs, burgers and crepes.
On Friday June 2, there will be a special programme of activities including free live performances by Alicante band Biucho Raro. Local band The Mailers will take to the stage on Saturday June 3, and there will also be a concert by Granada musician, El Jose.
On Sunday June 4, the line-up incudes a performance by Beatles tribute group, The Liverpool Band, followed by 'comedy night' with comedians Jaime Caravaca and Makeba.
On each day there will also be music courtesy of DJ Adriasola, a regular at the Street Food Market, and there will be bars serving beer and soft drinks.
The aim of the culinary festival is "to combine gastronomic culture with the use and enjoyment of public space," according to the organisers.
The three-day event will be the fourth stop in the Alacant Street Market Tour which has already visited the towns of Elda, Villena and Mutxamel, attracting "more than 20,000 people per location".
The next confirmed stops in the coming weeks are Elche (from June 9-11), Guardamar del Segura, El Campello and Torrevieja. The latter dates are still to be confirmed.
