ARCHIVED - July 6 The Joscho Stephan Trio & Sandro Roy plus Patax “Play the Beatles” in the San Javier Jazz Festival
Top German jazz and Beatles jazz adaptations in the 24th San Javier Jazz Festival
JOSCHO STEPHAN TRÍO & SANDRO ROY
Joscho Stephan belongs to a new generation of guitar virtuosos who are introducing new and fresh stylistic elements to Gypsy Jazz. Created in the 1930s by the legendary Django Reinhardt, Gypsy Jazz (also known as Jazz Manouche or Gypsy Swing) was Europe's first completely original contribution to the development of jazz.
Joscho is not only the best guitarist of this style in Germany, but one of the best and most spectacular European guitarists. With him and his fantastic trio is the impressive violinist Sandro Roy, another of the treasures of German jazz, who has been compared to the legendary Stephane Grappelli and enjoys a brilliant career in both classical and jazz music.
Two greats of German jazz from the best of the first division of jazz in the European Union!
PATAX “PLAY THE BEATLES”
Led by percussionist Jorge Pérez, Patax is today the freshest, most cosmopolitan and brilliant expression of new jazz fusion with flamenco ingredients and one of the most spectacular and surprising Spanish jazz bands of all time, as we were privileged to witness when they first visited the San Javier Jazz Festival in 2017.
In the wake of the legacy of legends such as Weather Report, Chick Corea Electric Band, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Enrique Morente and Paco de Lucía, Patax has taken the concept of jazz fusion to new frontiers. Here they present their musical tribute to The Beatles with unique and original versions of some of their most beautiful songs, the fusion of jazz, flamenco and Afro-Cuban rhythms giving them a new shine.
The concert begins at 22.00 in the open-air Auditorio Municipal with tickets priced at 20 euros. Season tickets are also available: for bookings and further information click here.
