ARCHIVED - Hospitalisations dip but ICU admissions rebound: Murcia Covid update August 30
The incidence rate in the Region of Murcia has dropped more than 40 points in the last five days

Almost 85% of the total population of the Region of Murcia is now double jabbed, an impressive number which is certainly contributing to the steady improvement of the coronavirus situation in the community. Hospital and intensive care admissions continue to see-saw, however, with the number of ICU patients increasing by three on Monday August 29, while hospitalisations have fallen by nine.
Coronavirus infections
The Region of Murcia has registered a total of 459 cases of coronavirus since the last update five days ago, 105 of which were reported on Wednesday August 24, which brings the overall number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 453,814.
Of the total cases, 82,872 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The latest data provided by the regional health authorities on Wednesday show that the 7-day cumulative incidence rate has dropped even further to stand at 90.84 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The average incidence over a two-week period also reflects this slowdown, decreasing once more from 258.80 cases at the beginning of the week to 206.67 today.
This brings the Region of Murcia ever closer to the Spanish national average, which is currently at 161.99 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Hospitalisations and fatalities
There are currently 147 people hospitalised for Covid in Murcia, compared to 156 in the last update. However, the number of people being treated for more serious conditions in the Region’s ICUs has suffered a slight rebound, increasing from 7 patients to ten.
Seven more Covid-related fatalities have been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,419.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,127,400 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
Vaccination data
Since the last update, 91.84% of the entire population of the Murcia Region has had a least one dose. In addition, 84.87% of people are now double jabbed.
