Heat alert activated as temperatures continue to rise: Alicante weather June 1-4
Early intense summer heat expected across Alicante Province with a yellow warning in place and some areas set to hit around 40°C

A hot and sunny weekend that saw temperatures reach around 36°C closed out the month of May. And June is coming in strong with Aemet forecasting even higher temperatures for this week. In fact, there is even a yellow alert in place on Tuesday June 2 as temperatures are expected to reach 40°C in Orihuela. Let's take a look at the daily breakdown:
Monday June 1
The first day of June will be very similar to Sunday with plenty of sun and clear skies. Temperatures are expected to vary between 30ºC and 34ºC.
Winds will be light and variable, turning easterly around lunchtime.
Tuesday June 2
Tuesday looks to be the hottest day this week. It will be very sunny with clear skies. There is a yellow warning in place with temperatures expected to reach 40°C in more inland towns. The coastal towns should stay a touch cooler but are still expected to be around 34ºC.
Winds will be light and variable and will turn southerly by midday.
Wednesday June 3
On Wednesday, the temperatures are expected to drop dramatically, but it will continue to be hot and sunny. Most towns will be in the high twenties, with Orihuela reaching a maximum of 30ºC. Winds will be north easterly and they may pick up in the afternoon, with some areas experiencing strong gusts in exposed areas.
Thursday June 4
It will be mostly sunny in the morning but cloud will build throughout the day. There is a chance of some showers and thunderstorms inland and temperatures will creep back up. With the presence of storms inland, the heat will be more humid than the weekend and will vary from 31ºC to 33ºC. Winds will again be light in the morning and will pick up along the coast in the afternoon.
Enjoy the early summer sunshine, but take care, especially on Tuesday. Keep an eye out for any new weather alerts and updates from local town halls. Drink plenty of water, avoid the strong midday sun where you can, and take it easy during the hottest part of the day.
Minimum and maximum temperatures in Alicante:

Monday June 1: Min 18ºC, Max 34ºC
Tuesday June 2: Min 19ºC, Max 40ºC
Wednesday June 3: Min 16ºC, Max 30ºC
Thursday June 4: Min 15ºC, Max 33ºC
