Health Alert: Popular deodorant withdrawn from Spanish supermarkets
Medical experts in France and Spain fear the hygiene product causes underarm cysts

The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) ordered the urgent withdrawal on Friday September 15 of the Nuud BV brand of cream deodorant. A week ago, France ordered the item to be removed from its shelves and for all marketing to cease as it’s now believed the hygiene product could cause cysts in the armpits.
According to AEMPS, the undesirable effects could be related to the consistency and oily nature of the product, which would lead to the clogging of the pores in the application area (armpits). The ingredients, together with the sensitive skin of the underarm, "which is subject to anatomical occlusion and permanent friction, would increase the risk of cysts and microbial infection," the agency explained.
➡️ La AEMPS ha solicitado cese de comercialización y retirada voluntaria del mercado de todos los lotes del producto 'Nuud the carefree deodorant'

Unfortunately, at this stage, Aemps can’t rule out a possible health risk in consumers who have used the Nuud product in Spain. The item is normally sold online but it’s also readily available in supermarkets, independent shops and pharmacies across the country.
The decision to remove the deodorant from market was made after four people who had used the product reported the appearance of painful cysts under their arms.
However, further investigation into the matter is needed since the Nuud brand complies with all of the Spanish regulations related to cosmetic products.
Consumers who have purchased the deodorant have been advised by AEMPS not to use it and anyone who notices any symptoms should consult a doctor or health professional.
