German tourist arrested for stabbing his mother in Costa del Sol

A 22-year-old German tourist has been remanded in custody without bail in the Costa del Sol municipality of Velez-Malaga for the attempted murder of his mother. The young man allegedly stabbed his 61-year-old mum while the pair was holidaying in Benajarafe.

According to investigators, the tourist was arrested on Tuesday November 28 after stabbing his mother in the back, resulting in her being rushed to hospital.

The attack occurred at a house in the Río Adelfas urbanisation of the town. The victim was stabilised at the scene before being transferred by ambulance to the Regional Hospital of Malaga with damage to one of her lungs.

She is understood to be in a serious but stable condition. The reasons behind the attack are unknown.
