Murcia weather warnings, Wednesday August 14
A radical change in weather is forecast for the Region of Murcia this week. For now, the high summer temperatures continues this Tuesday August 13, with the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) issued a yellow level warning for this day for maximum temperatures that could reach up to 38ºC in centre and north of the Region.
That alert for high temperatures will be active until 9pm on Tuesday, and then from midday on Wednesday August 14, the Aemet is issuing a yellow warning for rain and thunderstorms that could drop up to 15 litres of water per square metre in just one hour.
This storm warning will be active from noon until the end of the day, with Aemet indicating a probability of rainfall of 40%-70%.
A yellow level warning for storms indicates that in the affected area strong thunderstorms are expected. Given the nature of these weather phenomena, there is the possibility that storms of greater intensity may occur at certain times.
The Councillor for Emergencies of the Ayuntamiento de Lorca, José Martínez, has issued recommendations for “how to act in an emergency of this type”.
“Check and clean downpipes and water outlets on terraces and patios,” he says. “Do not park in areas where water may flow; avoid travelling by car and do NOT drive on secondary roads and rambla watercourses; and do not cross ramblas, even if it seems that they do not have much water in them.”
For now, no weather warnings have been issued for Thursday 15 as heavy storms are not expected, although it is forecast to rain almost all day long, especially in the southern half of the Region.
