The Department of Tourism in Orihuela is set to host the annual Carnival parade on Friday February 9 at 6.30pm. Participants from various local music and dance academies will lead the event, decked out in elaborate costumes that promise to dazzle spectators young and old.

 

This year’s parade will follow the usual route, beginning on Calle Alfonso XIII before making its way down the Avenida de Teodomiro and culminating at the Glorieta de Gabriel Miró.

 

Confirmed participants include the Municipal School of Dance, ACAMDO Association, Óscar and Ángela Academy, Ana Belén Navarro Academy and Centro Acción.

 

Local councillor Gonzalo Montoya emphasised the significance of this parade and its popularity among the people of Orihuela.

 

He praised the involvement of local dance and music troupes, stating that “these events are undoubtedly a dynamic element of commercial activity and a new tourist attraction for the city, also serving as a beautiful showcase to contemplate the extraordinary work carried out by our dance and music schools and academies, whom I thank for their collaboration, commitment and professionalism in the celebration of this unique and singular festival.”
