Cruise ships bring a wave of tourists to Alicante this month
Around 11,000 visitors are expected to disembark in Alicante city during the first week of August
Businesses in Alicante are brimming with anticipation as four cruise ships carrying a total of 11,000 passengers are scheduled to dock in the city during the first week of August. This influx of visitors is expected to have a significant economic impact on local businesses and restaurants, injecting a boost of energy and excitement into the summer season.
Kicking off the cruise ship arrivals on August 2 is the MSC Virtuosa, operated by MSC Cruises. This impressive vessel will bring 6,334 British passengers to explore the city during its brief stopover from 9am to 8pm.
The following day, on August 3, the Regent Seven Seas Voyager of Regent Seven Seas Cruises arrives, carrying 680 American passengers. They'll have a full day to enjoy Alicante from 8am to 9pm.
The excitement continues on August 6 with the arrival of Oceania Cruises' Riviera, bringing 1,447 passengers from the United States. This ship will be docked from 8am to 6pm, giving its guests a full day to immerse themselves in the local culture.
Capping off the week on August 9 is the MSC Orchestra, another MSC Cruises ship, carrying 2,551 passengers from Italy, Portugal and Spain. This final ship of the week will be in port from 8am until 5pm.
Cruise passengers are vital for the area’s economy and to boost these impressive numbers even further, the Alicante Costa Blanca Tourism and Cruise Association is busy advertising the sunny south coast as the perfect destination for cruises.
To help passengers explore the wealth of attractions Alicante city has to offer, the association has launched an interactive virtual map, which can be accessed through a QR code that all cruise customers are given once they dock.
