ARCHIVED - Coronavirus data continues to fluctuate: Valencia Covid update July 27
The number of deaths, infections and hospital admissions in Alicante province and the rest of the region have fallen

All important Covid indicators have dropped across Spain after spiralling at the beginning of the summer, and this downward trajectory is mirrored in the Valencia region, according to the latest update from the Ministry of Health. However, the data really only reflects the last four days and coronavirus indicators continue to yo-yo.
Last Friday, the number of Covid-related fatalities shot up to 62, and whilst the number of reported deaths has almost halved, it still remains worryingly high.
New infections have steadily fallen over the last 10 days after leaping earlier this month and hospital admissions are down following a significant jump, although there are four more critically ill patients in ICU than four days ago.
Coronavirus cases
The regional Ministry of Health has confirmed 4,506 new coronavirus cases since the last update on Friday July 22 (over a four-day period). The latest figures are down almost 1,000 on the 5,423 infections reported a week ago.
By provinces: 609 in Castellón (187,004 in total), 1,142 in Alicante (518,351 in total) and 2,755 in Valencia (817,758 in total).
Of these new cases, 2,255 are people over 60 years of age (down from 2,275 on Friday and 2,670 a week ago): Of the new cases over the three-day period, 345 from Castellón, 611 from Alicante and 1,299 from Valencia.
Hospitalisations
There are currently 1,110 Covid patients in hospitals across the Valencia region, 39 fewer than four days ago, 62 of them in the ICU (four more than last Friday): 160 in the province of Castellón, 6 in the ICU; 354 in the province of Alicante, 22 of them in the ICU; and 596 in the province of Valencia, 34 in ICU.
Fatalities
Thirty-two deaths have been reported since the last update, all of which occurred within the last seven days with the exception of four that occurred between July 12 and 16. This is significantly lower than the 62 Covid-related fatalities reported four days ago.
The deceased are 19 women aged between 73 and 105-years-old and 13 men aged between 64 and 93-years-old. This brings the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 9,730: 1,142 in the province of Castellón, 3,710 in Alicante and 4,878 in Valencia.
