Murcia weather forecast, Wednesday August 14

After a hot and dry spell, temperatures are set to fall slightly in the Region of Murcia with the arrival of some summer thunderstorms and showers midweek.

Before that, however, the week starts with more of the now-familiar yellow level weather warnings issued by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for high temperatures in the centre and north of the Region on Monday August 12 and Tuesday 13, for temperatures that could reach up to 38 or 39ºC.

Murcia weather warning, Monday August 12

It is on Wednesday August 14 when the rainclouds are forecast to arrive, covering the entire Region and even bringing thunder and lightning to the eastern coastal area, around Cartagena, La Manga and the Mar Menor. Neighbouring Alicante and Almería will also have showers, as will much of eastern Spain.

Wednesday night is forecast to be dry, but the showers start up again on Thursday 15, meaning these two days will be something of a washout, and having the knock-on effect of lowering both minimum and maximum temperatures for the following few days.

Murcia weather forecast, Thursday August 15

It dries up on Friday 16, leaving another sunny weekend but with temperatures that are just three or four degrees lower than the weather warning threshold.

Sunday August 18: Min 17ºC; Max 36ºC
