Cheap train travel between Andalucia and Madrid gets underway
Demand is high for the new low-cost, high-speed railway from Andalucia to the Spanish capital
From Thursday June 1, passengers can now grab a seat on one of Renfe’s high-speed trains between Andalucia and Madrid. And if that wasn’t enough, Spain’s premier rail operator is offering bargain-basement tickets for a limited time only.
More than 60,000 tickets have already been sold for the new Avlo service since they went on the market on April 12, but the low-cost fares are still available on the Renfe website and the Avlo platform.
Avlo is a Renfe high-speed service that promises competitive travel times and affordable prices with the aim of improving mobility at all stations along the route, both origin and destination and intermediate stations. The offer includes a daily train in both directions from Seville and Malaga, which means 1,752 additional seats per day.
The budget tickets will be available to purchase throughout the summer, until September 30. This, coincidently, is the date when the works between the high-speed line between Madrid and Andalucia is expected to be completed.
Beginning on June 1, all Avlo trains between the Spanish capital and Malaga will make stops at Antequera, Santa Ana, Puente Genil, Córdoba, Villanueva, Puertollano and Ciudad Real stations.
All of the high-speed trains can accommodate 436 passengers and have two seats for people with reduced mobility.
Schedule
Trains will depart from Málaga María Zambrano at 9.54am and arrive in Madrid’s Puerta de Atocha Almudena Grandes at 1.12pm. Stops along the way include Antequera Santa Ana, Puente Genil, Sevilla Santa Justa, Córdoba, Villanueva de Córdoba, Puertollano and Ciudad Real.
Trains will depart from Madrid’s Puerta de Atocha at 5.50pm to arrive in Andalucía at 9.02pm. Stops along the way include Ciudad Real, Puertollano, Villanueva de Córdoba, Córdoba, Sevilla Santa Justa, Puente Genil and Antequera Santa Ana.
