Cadiz skyline to change forever with first 20-storey building

Ground has already been broken on construction work of what will eventually become the tallest residential building in Cádiz city, 20 floors high. The project is being built on the plot of land of the old Tobacco Warehouses complex near the football stadium, where the warehouses built in the middle of the last century and which had no historical value were demolished.

The skyscraper is being built by Seville real estate company Grupo ABU, which is also working on two other projects in the city. The tallest one, though, which is set to change the Cádiz skyline forever, will involve the construction of 97 free-rent homes, the vast majority of which have already been sold.

Plans for the building also include a shopping area and leisure facilities for residents, as well as a rooftop pool with views of the entire Bay of Cádiz, plus an area for coworking, a gym and underground parking.

Cádiz City Council granted the building permit on August 11, 2023 after the demolition of the warehouses. As per the Spanish building law that provides rebates for companies who destine a certain percentage of new housing to council homes, some of the homes in the new building will be classified as Protected Housing (Viviendas Protegidas or VPO).
