British tourist arrested in Mallorca for touching up flight attendant

A British holidaymaker in his 40s has been arrested for sexually harassing a cabin crew staff member on a recent flight from Newcastle to Mallorca. The unnamed tourist had to be restrained by other passengers and flight attendants as his behaviour became increasingly rambunctious on Friday night, September 29.

According to witnesses, the accused stood up from his seat and approached the male steward in an “affectionate” manner, touching his bum and nipples “in a lewd way.”

His bawdy behaviour was radioed down to the control tower and police were waiting to arrest the man when the plane touched down in Palma airport. But the Briton refused to go quietly, and officers had to call in reinforcements when the suspect resisted arrest.

The Briton appeared before a Mallorca judge the following day where he reportedly claimed to have been playing a joke on the flight attendant, but he later contradicted himself in what the court felt was a rather incoherent way. He has been released on bail pending further investigation.

Embarrassingly, stories of Brits behaving badly on flights to and from Spain has become commonplace and just last month, passengers aboard an easyJet flight from Luton to Ibiza were mortified when an air steward swung open the toilet door to reveal two travellers in a most compromising position.

The footage shows a semi-clothed man and woman in the throes of passion as the flight dissolves into gales of laughter and applauding. The man managed a quick smirk for the camera before pulling the door shut in front of a bashful-looking flight attendant.

easyJet confirmed that police were in Ibiza to speak to the passengers when the plane touched down but it’s not clear if any arrests were made.
