British man found dead between parked cars in popular Costa Blanca resort

Investigations underway after body discovered in Javea, with no immediate signs of foul play

A British man, aged 50, was found dead early Sunday morning between two parked cars in the town of Javea (Xàbia), a well-known holiday resort on Spain’s Costa Blanca, approximately a 45-minute drive north of Benidorm.

The alarm was raised just before 7.45am when emergency services received a call reporting the discovery. Police and a duty doctor attended the scene on Avenida Trenc d’Alba street and confirmed the man’s death.

The Guardia Civil in Alicante confirmed the deceased was a British national and stated there were no obvious signs of violence at the scene. However, the Equipo Territorial de la Policía Judicial. (Judicial Police Territorial Team) from Calpe has taken over the investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death. An autopsy has been ordered, but results are still pending.

It remains unclear whether the man was a local resident or a visitor to the area. British consular officials have been informed of the situation.

Javea is a popular destination known for its scenic cliffs, protected natural parks, and attractive beaches such as Playa del Arenal and Cala Granadella. It draws outdoor enthusiasts and tourists from across the UK and beyond throughout the year.

This tragic incident comes amid reports highlighting Spain’s continuing popularity among British tourists, with Benidorm itself seen as one of the world’s safest holiday destinations.

Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to assist the ongoing inquiry while reminding the public that investigations are active and sensitive in nature.
