What should have been a once-in-a-lifetime celebration ended in tragedy for British dad Jonny Barltrop, who was hit by a car and killed while in the Malaga resort of Marbella on his stag do.

Jonny and fiance Cheri Bulmer were due to get married in the UK in just six weeks and the young dad flew to Spain with a group of pals for a three-day bachelor party weekend. Sadly, he died on the first night, leaving behind his son Leo, just six months old.

Chris Ewart, of Build Recruitment where Jonny worked, said: “We think there have been up to eight deaths on the same road in recent years.

“Jonny had so much love for Cheri and Leo it can’t be put into words.”

Chris continued: “Jonny is one of my best friends and we have worked together for the past nine years. He was highly driven and the most successful recruitment professional I’ve come across.”

Friends of the young family have since launched a GoFundMe to “lighten the burden”, and it exceeded 58,000 euros in 24 hours.

Cheri, who lives in London, said: “Jonny was so excited for our future together.

“We are just completely heartbroken.”
