ARCHIVED - August 30 free guided tour of the old mines of Mazarron
A morning out at the now abandoned mines which made Mazarrón prosperous in the past
The tourist office of Mazarrón offers a free guided visit on Tuesday August 30 of the old mines just north of the town, nowadays a spectacular multi-coloured rock-scape which reflects the different periods of the town’s economic, social and cultural history.
The tour is in Spanish but the sights speak for themselves, and the group is limited to a maximum of 40 people. Bookings are accepted both through the Mazarrón tourist office (telephone 968 594426, email oficinaturismomazarron@gmail.com, online bookings here) and through the Murcia Turística site here.
Duration: 2 and a half hours
Strongly recommended: drinking water, walking shoes, cap, sun cream, facemask.
Participants will need their own motor vehicle, and on registration will receive details of the morning starting time and meeting point.
The booking period opens a week prior to each tour and ends at 13.30 the day before the tour. Each participant must register separately, and participants must show proof of identity (DNI, passport, NIE or TIE). If participants are minors this must be indicated on the booking.
Bookings may not be transferred.
The visit may be cancelled in the event of adverse weather conditions or new circumstances related to the Covid pandemic, and all participants will receive confirmation of the go-ahead on the last working day prior to the event.
Under no circumstances will unregistered participants be allowed to join the group.
