The Valencia Region accounts for a quarter of Madrid’s shoe festival stands

On Saturday and Sunday Madrid held its bi-annual International Fashion and Accessories Trade Show, MOMAD, with reoresentations from businesses working within the provinces of Alicante and Valencia.

The event, which started on Saturday and finishes on Monday, brings together more than 500 exhibitors from all over the world, 104 of which are from Valencia and 70 from the municipality of Elche alone. Elda is another town where the local economy is dominated by shoes, and the shoe industry is truly thriving in the Valencia region, with its exhibitors representing almost a quarter of all of the international shoe manufacturers at the event.

According to the president of Valencia’s regional government, Ximo Puig, the region is producing more and more exports from Spain every year, and overall is responsible for over half of the country’s shoe-related trade.
