Another week of rain: Spain weather forecast October 14-17
Widespread showers are forecast in large parts of Spain during the second half of the week
Weather outlook on Wednesday October 16
The third week of October begins in Spain with the last throes of the hurricanes and storms that created very unsettled weather over the past few days, and yet another front is set to sweep in between Wednesday and Friday. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), this will result in more widespread rain, overcast skies and stormy intervals.
Monday October 14
The south of Spain didn’t feel the full effects of Storm Kirk last week but on Monday there’s a strong chance of heavy rain in mountainous parts of the southeast, and Andalucía has been issued with a yellow weather alert for downpours later in the evening. The rain could also make an appearance in the northwest of Spain and the Canary Islands, although it will be weaker and more scattered.
Maximum temperatures will increase in the southern half of the country and the Balearic Islands, exceeding 30ºC in Murcia, with few changes expected elsewhere.
Tuesday October 15
Tuesday will be wet in most of the country but the heaviest rainfall is forecast for Andalucía, the northwest of Spain and the eastern coast in general.
Daytime temperatures will fall across the board but the dip will be most noticeable in inland areas of the south.
Monday’s yellow weather alert for rain in Andalucía will persist until around 9am, while fresh warnings for stormy intervals and strong winds have been activated from late morning in Aragon, Castilla y Leon, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Extremadura, Navarra and the Valencian Community.
Wednesday October 16
Wednesday will be a fairly miserable day with a chance of widespread and heavy rain in the entire country, accompanied by thunderstorms in many parts.
The worst of the rain is forecast in Galicia, inland Spain, the south of the Pyrenees and the southwest.
The mercury will take another dip in the north but temperatures could rise by a couple of degrees in the extreme southwest and the archipelagos.
Yellow weather alerts for heavy rain and/or strong winds: Aragon, Castilla y Leon, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Extremadura and Navarra.
Thursday October 17
An Atlantic front will continue to influence the weather in Spain on Thursday, with another day of widespread rain on the cards. The rain will be heaviest in western Galicia and the south of the Pyrenees, but downpours are far less likely in the southeast and the Balearic Islands.
Temperatures will tend to fall almost universally, noticeably in large areas of inland Spain. However, some slight temperature increases could be recorded on the Mediterranean coasts. Light frosts are not ruled out in the Pyrenees.
Aemet hasn’t activated any weather alerts for Thursday.
