Skies settle across the region as temperatures climb steadily towards a warm finish to the weekend

That brief dip in temperatures this week hasn´t lasted long. Andalucía warms back up day by day, climbing from the mid-30s to a proper summery 38°C by Sunday.

 

Thursday opens on a rough note in the far east, with showers and some locally heavy thunderstorms first thing in the morning. Almería is likely to catch the worst of it, and the Mediterranean coast, Málaga included, will see a noticeable local drop in temperature as a result. Elsewhere it's calmer: partly cloudy skies with patches of high cloud along the Atlantic coast, and more general cloud with scattered showers inland. Winds stay light and variable through most of the day, picking up to moderate here and there from midday onwards.

 

 

No major surprises on Friday. Skies turn predominantly clear, with just a bit of low morning cloud drifting along the Mediterranean coast, where a light shower or two is still possible. Down towards Tarifa and the Strait of Gibraltar, expect moderate to strong easterly winds, while Cádiz sees lighter, more variable conditions with the odd gusty spell. Temperatures hold much where they left off, with lows around 15°C and highs still touching 35°C, felt a little more on the Atlantic side.

 

 

Saturday carries on in a similar vein, with clear skies dominating and just a touch of low cloud lingering over the Strait and the far east in the morning, again with a small chance of light rain in those spots. Huelva should enjoy a quiet, settled day, while up in Granada mornings stay fresh even as afternoons warm further. Winds remain light and variable across most of the region, moderate along the eastern Mediterranean coast and moderate to strong through the Strait.

 

 

Sunday rounds off the run with the warmest weather of the four days. Skies stay largely clear, with a little low cloud around the Strait and the eastern fringes first thing, and barely any wind to speak of beyond the usual moderate breeze further east. Overnight temperatures rise too, up to a milder 18°C, while afternoon highs push into the high thirties. Inland spots feel it most, with Córdoba and Seville both climbing to a sweltering 38°C, and Jaén not far behind, enjoying a properly summery send-off to the weekend.

 

So while the storms move on quickly enough, the cooler air doesn't stick around. By Sunday, Andalucía is back in short-sleeves territory, with the heat building right through to the end of the weekend.
