Alicante announces exciting new direct flights to vibrant North African city

Three weekly flights will connect the Costa Blanca to Morocco’s popular coastal destination

Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport, now Spain's sixth busiest by passenger volume, is set to add a fresh international route to its growing network, with direct flights to Casablanca starting this April.

Already offering connections to domestic destinations, European capitals and the three North African cities of Algiers, Oran and Marrakech, the Costa Blanca airport will now link travellers to Morocco’s bustling coastal hub, increasingly popular with tourists.

The new service will be operated by Royal Air Maroc, which is expanding its presence in Spain with an ambitious plan to reach 80 weekly flights to nine Spanish cities and grow its fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037.

Alicante-Casablanca flights will run three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Departures from Alicante are scheduled for 1.10pm, landing in Casablanca at 2.40pm local time. Return flights leave Casablanca at 9.30 am, arriving in Alicante at 12.10 pm, with a total flight time of around 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Royal Air Maroc will also start direct flights between Casablanca and Bilbao from April, while March will see new services from Tetouan to Barcelona, Malaga and Madrid. Connections from Tangier to Barcelona and Malaga begin in July, followed by Madrid in September, with Nador to Barcelona launching at the same time.

The Casablanca link complements other recent additions at Alicante-Elche Airport, including the new Jet2.com service from London Gatwick starting in March.
