Despite the unstable weather in recent days, the City Hall of Cartagena has reported an increase in the number of people going down to the beaches of the municipality. That’s why they’ve decided to post lifeguards on seven Cartagena beaches, to monitor and make sure everyone stays safe this summer.

Specifically, they will be opening the lifeguard posts at the beaches of Mar de Cristal, Galúa, Sirenas, Entremares, Cala Cortina, El Portús (pictured) and San Ginés (La Azohía).

As well as the lifeguards and other municipal staff, there will also be a rescue boat based in El Portús.

From the second half of June, new lifeguard posts will be opened on the Mediterranean coast and the Mar Menor, bringing the total number of lifeguards to 110 and 26 beach surveillance centres open throughout July and August in the municipality of Cartagena.

The summer season will come to an end on September 30, from which point there will be no more lifeguards until the following summer.
